Celtic Order of Mary Magdalene

The Celtic Order of Mary Magdalene

The Celtic Order of Mary Magdalene honours the legacy of Mary Magdalene, disciple and apostle to the Apostles. In her, the Divine Presence, Shechina, and the Christian wisdom tradition, Sophia, are embodied. The Order is undogmatic and renounces statutes and hierarchies. In the foreground is the heart relationship of each member with Saint Mary Magdalene. The answer to the questions why the Order does not have a Rule is given by Jesus himself in the Gospel according to Mary Magdalene: "Do not lay down any rule beyond what I have commanded you, and do not give any law as the lawgiver does, lest by it they gain power over you!" One could say that in the Order we act according to the Rule of Jesus, in which we do not lay down a rule.

Admission takes place with the request for admission and with the putting on of a red scarf by a representative of the Order during a Holy Mass.

We approach the figure of Mary Magdalene by reading and listening to stories handed down to us, in prayer, meditation and contemplation, but also in the healing arts, songs and in being together. In her intimate closeness to Jesus Christ, she serves us as a model for a fulfilling and equal couple relationship, in which two souls can grow spiritually and unite as one, thus achieving wholeness.
